Ceph has been an integral part of Ubuntu and Ubuntu OpenStack since the Ubuntu 12.04 LTS release.  As well as distributing Ceph as part of Ubuntu alongside OpenStack, Canonical have deployed and run Ubuntu and Canonical production services built on Ceph provided OpenStack block storage services since the Ceph first stable release, Argonaut.

We’ll be running through a potted history of how Ceph distribution has evolved over the last three years in Ubuntu, how we deploy Ceph as part of Ubuntu OpenStack and the experiences we’ve had of hosting production services for Ubuntu and Canonical using Ceph for block storage services.
