Dr. James Hoagland is a Sr. Principal Software Engineer at Symantec. In the Cloud Platform Engineering group, he is helping build big data analytics services for the new Symantec private cloud. In earlier parts of his 12 years at Symantec, Jim has helped build a system to stored hundreds of TBs of security data in an relational database for analytics, automatically ran malware in VMs, investigated the Vista network attack surface, and studied network evasions and IPv6 security, among other things. Before joining Symantec, he was a security researcher at Silicon Defense for three years. Jim earned his doctorate from the Computer Security Lab at UC Davis in 2000.
